Captain Dan Dillon has been fishing the local rivers in central Texas for spawning white bass for years, and he has access to some very secluded and sometimes private areas along the North, South, and Middle Bosque. He also has locations on the Navasota, Nolan, and San Gabriel Rivers, and depending on which river you fish, he will either instruct you to meet him at a predetermined location or when fishing on private property he’ll pick you up in his Hummer and drive you to the location.
Captain Dan provides all of your equipment, including ultralight spinning rods, reels, & tackle, and he also furnishes fly rods for anyone who wants to try catching white bass with this unconventional yet deadly technique.
If you’ve never Fly Fished before, do not worry, Captain Dan has taught many beginners a very simple, casting technique that is very quick and easy to learn and he will be more than happy to teach it to you as well, but if you prefer to fish with ultralight spinning equipment or if you simply want to bring your own equipment, then you’re more than welcome to do so.
Some river trips will require you to walk a little distance and possibly cross a river in areas that are about ankle-deep to maybe knee-deep, so be sure to wear shorts and comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
Other river trips will require you to ride in his small, two-seater, plastic, pelican boat equipped with two Trolling Motors to get to the section of the river where he’s been catching fish.
Captain Dan only offers these river running trips during the spring spawn, which runs from March 1st thru May 1st and he never knows from year to year which rivers he will be fishing, due to the fact that water levels change drastically from year to year, so he will call you and go over all the details with you before your trip and answer any questions that you may have. In the meantime, here are some videos and pics of some of his river trips.
